SMPN 1 TALANG EMPAT IN ACTION

Kegiatan belajar Bahasa Inggris dan TIK di SMPN 1 Talang Empat selalu diikuti dengan penuh antusias oleh semua siswa. Meskipun Laboratorium TIK sekolah belum bisa dibilang lengkap namun hal itu tidak menjadi kendala dalam proses belajar mengajar.
Meskipun di laboratorium komputer belum ada jaringan internet, namun para siswa masih bisa mengundu internet dengan memamnfaatkan HP guru TIK mereka untuk dijadikan modem. 
"TERUSLAH BERSEMANGAT "





DIKLAT CALON INSTRUKTUR BAHASA INGGRIS TAHUN 2001 DI LAMPUNG

Setelah lolos dari seleksi calon instruktur guru Bahasa Inggris di provinsi Bengkulu para peserta selanjutnya mengikuti diklat di provinsi Lampung. Peserta diklat di Lampung ini berasal dari sumatera. Selanjutnya mereka yang lolos pada seleksi regional ini akan mengikuti diklat Instruktur Bahasa Inggris tingkat nasional di Jakarata.
Peserta yang berdiri dari kiri: Evi Kusnadi, S.Pd. (Bengkulu), Junaidi,S.Pd. (Bengkulu), Zarwin,S.Pd. (Bengkulu), Suparno,S.Pd.Alm, no 6 dari kiri (Bengkulu), Sudadi,S.Pd.,Ridwan,S.Pd.,dan  Lila Larasati,S.Pd.no.8 dari kiri(Lampung). Yang pakai peci peserta dari Jakarta.
Peserta yang duduk diantara nara sumber dari Australia Supriyatno,S.Pd. dan Ghazali Gulap,S.Pd.






DIKLAT INSTRUKTUR GURU BAHASA INGGRIS TINGKAT NASIONAL DI JAKARTA TAHUN 2002

Inilah peserta diklat Instruktur guru Bahasa Inggris yang akan menjadi Instruktur guru Bahasa Inggris di provinsi mereka masing-masing.




IMPLEMENTING ROLE PLAYING AS A METHOD OF TEACHING SPEAKING FOR SMP

Problems which often appear in English instruction in SMP are stress, lack of motivation, and lack of students’ confidence to interact in learning process, as consequences learning achievement become less optimal. This matter was caused by both the English instruction assumed by most of the students as a difficult subject and the strategy applied tend to be monotone, not interesting, and boring.
To overcome the problem Classroom Action Research was conducted by applying pleasant instruction strategy through  Role Play. Procedure of teaching through free role plays by providing students with opportunity to construct their own dialog but they must follow several steps to design their dialog. The steps are first, the teacher explained and gave some models, second the students worked in group to choose the interesting topic, third the students designed the dialog by inserting  some functional skills that they have learnt, forth, students practiced the dialog in their group, and finally each group performed their work in front of the class. Teaching English especially speaking through Role Play is very helpful for teachers to motivate and maximize students’ frequency  to use English in the process of teaching and learning.
The result of this research indicates that students’ confidence to interact in  learning process increased. The result of observation analysis of students’ involvement in learning activities showed 92% students involved in group discussion, 66% of students were active in question answer activity, and 87% of students performed their work in front of the class. The students learning outcome showed 76% of students got scores among 55-100. It is better than previous achievement where 56% of students got score among 55-100. The result of this research could be input materials for other teacher to do the next research
